14岁的Coco第一次到美国,在西雅图参加了为期两周的夏令营,有学有玩,乐不思蜀。
On July 23rd, 2017, I flew to Seattle, USA with my four friends. It was my first time to America. I was so excited that I could not sleep on the airplane. I thought that it must be a different experience in my whole life.
On the first day of the summer camp, I was very nervous. I couldn't stop thinking, did I say it in a correct way? Did I make any grammar mistakes? I was afraid to speak English, I was afraid to express my feeling. But later I found it doesn't matter to make some stupid mistakes, teachers and classmates would understand what I wanted to express.
In the summer camp, I took four lessons every day. They were Songwriting for Everyone, ELL Reading & Writing, ELL Speaking & Presentation and Vocal Performance Choir. Among those four lessons, ELL Speaking & Presentation is my favorite.
In the class, we always shared things with each other, such as things you would do on rainy days and things you did during the weekend. The most attractive activity is the Artist Project. I made a PowerPoint on my favorite artist. I was very glad to share my favorite artist with my foreign classmates.
Songwriting for Everyone is my second favorite lesson. In each class, we had some object writings. It means that teacher would give you a noun, you can write anything about that. Sometimes teacher took us to a park to find something could be written in a song. In the music classroom, there were various music instruments to play, I love that room.
After dinner, RAs took us to many attractions in Seattle. The Space Needle left a deep impression to me. It is the highest building in Seattle. It's just like the Oriental Pearl TV Tower in Shanghai. We took the high speed elevator to get to the top of the tower. On the top of the tower, we saw the whole Seattle. The most amazing thing is the beautiful volcano Mount Rainier hundreds kilometers away from Seattle. We could still see it very clearly. It let me think of the good air quality in Seattle. The sky is blue, clouds are white, and the air is pure.
The summer camp in Seattle taught me a lot. I'm not shy any more, because I learned that being confident is very important. I knew the importance of team work, it makes us much stronger.
In a word, experience in Seattle is not only special, but also precious.
